Jam Sessions
Piano Students
Throughout the year, Dee’s Imagineering Kids may offer optional jam sessions where students can make music together in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. Students can choose a song from a shared song list, bring an instrument if they have one, sing, play piano, add percussion, or join in with simple rhythm and note patterns.
Beginners might tap a steady beat or play single notes, while more experienced students can try fuller parts, chords, riffs, or improvisation. Jam sessions are a fun way to build confidence, improve timing, explore ensemble playing, and experience music as a shared activity.
Jam sessions are dependent on student interest, scheduling, space, and overall feasibility, and may not run every year.
On Stage Recital
Piano Students
At the end of the piano year, we celebrate with a live, on-stage recital where every student gets to perform a piece they've been working on. It’s a joyful event filled with music, growth, and community—an opportunity for students to shine and feel the support and applause of a real audience.
On-Screen Recitals
Piano Students
Twice a year—at Halloween and the Holidays—we trade the stage for the screen! Students dress up in their spookiest or most festive outfits and record themed pieces to be featured in a fun, video recital. It’s harder than it looks (recording takes focus!), but it’s a blast—and a great way to share our music with friends and family near and far.
Composing Project
Every piano student—no matter their level—gets a chance to become a composer! Whether they’re telling a story through sound or just exploring new ideas, students create their own original piece as part of our annual composing project. All the songs are collected into a printed studio book, so every student gets to take home a copy featuring their work alongside their peers’. It’s a creative highlight of the year and something they’ll be proud to keep forever.

Illustrated Children’s Book
Art Students
Each year, art students work together to create a fully illustrated children’s book—from story planning to final pages. We develop a storyline with a clear goal and resolution, create thumbnail sketches to plan each page, and explore different layout styles like full spreads, spot illustrations, and text placement.
Students design a cover, draw and colour all the artwork, write the text, and assemble the book themselves. It’s a hands-on project that combines storytelling, visual design, and collaboration—resulting in a piece they can be proud to share.
Art Exhibit
Art Students
One of the special opportunities for art students is the possibility of participating in a student art showcase. When there is enough student interest and participation, artwork may be displayed in a gallery-style setting where family and guests can explore and admire each student’s creations. Students may also create museum-style cards to accompany their pieces, sharing their ideas, inspiration, and creative process.
It’s a wonderful way to celebrate their talents and creativity in a meaningful way. Art showcases require sufficient student participation and venue availability, and may not run every year.
Progress Highlights
Every year, I put together a snapshot of your child’s learning journey—what they’re doing well, where they could use a little boost, and what exciting things are up next. These highlights help you stay in the loop and make it easier to cheer them on and support their progress at home. There’s always a plan, and we’re always growing!
